SILVANUS IMPROVED

ANOTHER HORSE FOR CRAY (Special from "LlmTtefi.") » HAWERA, June 2. Silvanus has brightened up considerably since racing at Hawera, and should strip in good trim for Wanganui. A delicate mare, she requires careful handling, but is now putting plenty of energy into her work. Golden Rill, who ran a creditable race behind Boomerang and Flammarion at Hawera, is showing improved track form and beat Corowa decisively over half a, mile on Saturday morning. Corowa, however, is not a good track worker and invariably does better in his races. Both horses are to contest the distance hack races at Wanganui. The brother to Blixten is to race under the name of Settlement, and the Lysander—Reminiscent colt in J. Brown's stable will be known as Narrator. Panloif and Oriel were taken to the hunt meet on Saturday for qualifying purposes. , Should Cynical Kid come through his races at Ellerslie satisfactorily this week there is a probability _of his being sent across to Australia before the season close's.

Hector Gray was a visitor to Hawera yesterday and took back to New Plymouth with him a rising three-year-old colt by Paper Money, belonging to Mr. T. Carlton, of Wellington. The colt has done well and is in great heart to start work. Gray now has four horses, including Fersen and Brilliancy.
