QUALIFYING ROUND

An American, Mrs. Goldthwaite, With a score of 75, equalling scratch for the Southport course, heads the first quali-' fying round in the women's golf championship. Miss Diana Fishwick, exBritish champion,-and Miss Corlet, finalist in the' English championship, had scores of 76. Mrs. Walker, last year's Australian champion, and Mrs Vare, American champion, scored 77 and Miss Wanda Morgan, (holder) 78. Six other Americans are within seven strokes of the leader. ' The second qualifying round will be played tomorrow, after which 64 out of 140 will qualify for the match play on May 18. , \ . Mrs. Waddell, the New Zealander had a card of 99.
