SYNOPSIS OF LAST 24 HOURS.

The depression which was crossing the Dominion yesterday had by this morning moved tq the east and an anti-cyclone was approaching from the] Tastuan Sea. Since last night a southerly change has taken placo over most of the Dominion, its force, however, being leas strong generally than the northerly which preceded it, the latter during yesterday blowing ivltli gale force at places. The weather has been unsettled with fairly general rain, and snow has accompanied the southerly change in much of the high country of the South Island. There havo also been hail showers in the southernmost districts. Temperatures have become cold.
