CONGRATULATIONS

WOOL BROKERS IN COUNCIL

The New' Zealand "Woolbrokers' Association met in Wellington yesterday. Mr. A. E.Mabin presided. A number of matters, of interest to wool growers, buyers, arid brokers were discussed.

Among the resolutions carried unanimously. was that moved by the president and' reading as follows: — •

1 "That this meeting tenders its congratulations to Mr. W. S. Bennett on his promotion to the position of superintendent' for Australia for Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., whilst regretting his departure:from the Dominion. It desires to place on record its appreciation, of his many and great services to the association, particularly as president for -13 "years. .It recognises his earnest and untiring work on all matters pertaining to the wool industry, whether, from the point of view of broker x>r grower, and wishes him every' success in his future position." The meeting also expressed its regret at the retirement of Dr. Reakes. As president, Mr. Mabin moved, and it was carried with acclamation:-^

. "This meeting desires to place on record its regret that Dr. Reakes has retired from ';the position of DirectorGeneral of. Agriculture. It wishes to pay a tribute to his administration of an important Department and also to his knowledge and grasp of all sides of the many questions that came under his purview. The wool brokers recognise his'unfailing tact and fairness in all dealings and negotiations between' theni and his Department, and wish him every happiness in his retirement." • . : Mr. • Kelly subsequently moved:— : "That we j place on record our regret that Mr.. J.VB.-Moodie is severing his connection with the New Zealand Woolbrokers' Association, and our recognition of the valuable service he has tendered the association in the past." . ' • '■ ; ■'
