JDUNEDIN'S POPULATION

HAWKE'S BAY ALSO GROWS

:Ah increase'of 8619 on the 1926 population of 63,525 is shown in the Census

returns for Dunedin City, issued this afternoon by the Government Statistician. The' figures at the last Census did riot include 4100 visitors to the New Zealand and South Seas Exhibition, and 300 visitors to St. Kilda for the same, purpose were also excluded. St. Kilda's population is now 7740, an increase of 87. The recovery Hawke's Bay has. made from the earthquake of;, 1931 is shown by an increase of 1950, which brings the number of persons living in the county—which does not-melude the main centres—to 15,768.
