SOCIAL AND DANCE

There was a very good attendance at the social and dance held by the Wellington branch of the "Old Contcmptibies' " Association in the 1.0.0. F. hall, Allen Street, on Saturday night. The arrangements, which were in the hands of a capable social committee, went to make a very enjoyable and entertain-

ing evening,

Some excellent Highland dancing was performed by the Misses G. McKay and Jean O'Connor and Messrs. W. Macßae and C. Stewart. Sergeant C. Morrison was the piper. Pupils of Miss Chown also gave exhibitions of dancing. Little Joan Eteveneaux did a hula dance, and she and Audrey Bowen, Gloria Kemsley, and Graham Eteveneaux performed a tap dance. Another tap dance was given by the Misses Mabel Scott, Jean Mason,, and Betty Sparkes. Little Miss Margaret Thompson did a skipping dance and a special dance, number was given by Miss Esme Chalk. An item that was also much appreciated a buck

dance performed by Mr. Jack Hannan, with Mr. S. Jones at the piano.

An excellent orchestra supplied the music for dancing, arid Mr. Hump was M.C.

It was stated that it is the intention of the association to hold similar functions monthly during the coming season.
