SOUTHERN AIR MAILS

Notwithstanding the extremely difficult conditions, Union Airways completed their services on' Saturday, a fine performance under the circumstances, particularly so with the Southbound machine, which faced very severe head winds. It was due at Dunedin at 12.50 p.m., but actually did not arrive until 4.50 p.m. This. was due to delays at Blenheim and Christchurch. After starting out from Blenheim it had to return, but finally left for Christchurch. at 11.51 a.m., arriving at 2.3- p.m. It left Christchurch at 2.40 p.m., arriving at Dunedin at 4.50 p.m. It was still able to deliver the mails earlier than land-carried mails. Seven passengers were carried. Fly-ing-Officer White was in charge.
