"PARTICULARLY MEAN THEFT"

"This was a particularly mean type of theft," said Detective W. Murray in the Magistrate's Court on Friday, when Tuhina Matehe, aged 37, single, a labourer, pleaded guilty before Mr. W. F. Stilwell, 5.M.,.t0 a charge of theft of £10 10s.

The accused, said Detective Murray, stayed at the City Mission, in the same dormitory as the complainant, with whom he was very friendly. The complainant had placed £10 10s in his trousers pocket.on Saturday night, and had put the trousers • away in a suitcase. At 5 p.m.. on the following day he went to the case and found the money missing. The accused, on being asked, admitted that he had gone to the case and stolen the money. The accused had quite a list of previous convictions..'

A sentence of four months' imprisonment was imposed-
