NORTHLAND
A service was conducted at the Northland School on Saturday morning by the Rev. J. S. Murray. About 200 parents, children, and ex-servicemen were present.
The address was given by Captain A. E. Gorton, of the N.Z.R.S.A. headquarters', who stressed the necessity for instilling into the minds of those who knew not the Great War the horrors and futility of war, with the object in view of doing everything possible to bring about permanent peace.
Sergeant-Bugler C. James sounded the "Last Post" and the "Reveille." The Anzac hymn and "Oh God Our Help in Ages Past" were sung.
An impressive part of the ceremony was the tribute paid by the children to the old pupils .of the school who answered their country's call. After one of the pupils had read out the names from the honours board, the children filed past the board and saluted.
