MELBOURNE "STAR"
MELBOURNE, April 9. The proprietors of the "Star" have announced that the newspaper ceased publication with last night s issue. This decision, it was explained, was made necessary because the heavy costs of production and distribution had not been met by revenue from advertising and circulation to the degree anticipated when the paper was founded a little more than two years ago. , The proprietors expressed great regret that the majority of the loyal, and enthusiastic staff of more than .300 would have to be disban?**.
The Melbourne "Star" commenced publication on October 30, 1933, as an evening daily.
