RUGBY CONTROL

CANTERBUEY'S VOICE

VENUE OF HEADQUARTERS

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. No resident delegate in Wellington has been appointed this year by the Canterbury Rugby Union to represent it on the New Zealand Rugby Union. Instead, the management committee of the Canterbury Union decided last evening to send five, representatives, all from Christchurch, to attend the annual meeting of the New Zealand Union on its behalf. They will be expected to vote in favour of a Canterbury remit to the effect that the constitution of'the New Zealand union should be altered so that the headquarters of Rugby can be shifted from Wellington. The.idea is to change the headquarters v every five years, and to alternate between the four main centres. The president (Dr. Seed) agreed with other members that it would hardly be fair to reappoint the present resident delegate in Wellington (Mr. T. A. Fletcher), and tie his hands or expect him to vote for a remit to which he might be opposed. Of course, if no change of headquarters were made Canterbury would be left without a resident delegate.

The annual meeting of the New Zealand Union will be held on April 22. Mr. Fletcher is a member of the present management committee.
