WELLINGTON EAST CIRCUIT
The April quarterly meeting of the Wellington East Methodist Circuit showed a very satisfactory position, the income being well in excess of the expenditure despite the fact that a large debit balance was carried forward from last quarter. The membership also showed an increase. Exceedingly satisfactory reports were received from the various places in respect of the youth work undertaken, Worser Bay and Maranui being particularly prominent in the winning of athletic trophies for swimming and tennis.
A brief report was given regarding the inclusion of Island Bay in the circuit and also the election of the circuit's representative, Mr. R. Hampton, to the position of vice-president of the conference.
Allocations for the various places in respect of finance were made and tentatively adopted.
Expressions of sympathy were voiced in respect of several representatives who had sustained bereavement.
Reference to the excellent work carried out over the past four years by the retiring superintendent, Mr. Leadley, and the last two years by his assistant, Mr. Matthews, were made by the circuit stewards. These were suitably responded to. >
