WOMEN'S HOCKEY
PONEKE CLUB
The annual meeting of the Poneke Women's Hockey Club was held in the Aoarngi Lodge Rooms, Rugby Street, recently, a representative gathering of Ngati-Poneke people being present. It was decided to enter two teams in the senior A and senior B grade competitions in the coming season.
It is intended to send at least one team to the Maori tournament at Waitara, where a meeting is being held on June 26 in connection with the unveiling of the memorial erected to the late. Sir Maui Pomare.
Officers were elected as follows: — Patroness, Lady Pomare; president, Mr. Fred Katene; secretary, Miss Rangi French; vice-presidents, the Rev. P. Te Muera, Messrs. T. Asher, J. Churchward, H. Ruru, Oka.Heketa, N. Potete Nikora, B. Wineera, R. J. Lloyd, and Mesdames E. Harfoot, H. D. Bennett, R. Tamahou, Oka Heketa, J. Mason, J. Pihney, B. Wineera, and Q. Vidulich; coach and selector, Mrs. M. Black; chaperon, Mrs. H. Katene; delegates, Miss F. Mitchell and Mrs. M. Black.
