. An anticyclone still extends over the North Island, the centre being west of the Auckland Peninsula. A slight low-pressure wave crossed southern New Zealand last night, while a fairly Intense westerly depression. has been covering the south Tasmati Sea. Some scattered light rains have occurred on the west coast and In the southern portion of the South Island,'but for the most part the weather has been fair, mild, and hazy. Southerly breezes have ruled in the northern part of the North Island, while elsewhere northerlles have prevailed, light to moderate mainly in force, but strong in, parts of the.' Cook and Foveaux Straits areas. At Puysegur Point a north-west gale was blowing at. 9 a.m. today.
