HUDDART PARKER, LIMITED.

The managing director of Huddart Parker, Ltd. (Mr. J. L. Webb), at the twenty-fourth ordinary i general meeting of shareholders of the: company, held in Melbourne recently, said that strikes-by seamen and firemen last year seriously disturbed the sailing of vessels and adversely affected the earnings ,to the company. The dividends of 6 per cent, on .preference shares and 7 per cent, on ordinary shares, which were declared for the year's trading, were slightly in excess of the profit for the year. It was hoped that strikes, which had been the main reason for the falling off.in profits, would not recur for some time.
