"A FRIENDLY MEETING"
OPPOSITION CAUCUS
Surprise is expressed by the Leader of the Opposition (the Et. Hon. G. \W Forbes) at the statement made in "Tha Post" last evening that certain members of the Opposition left the informal caucus held yesterday befora the proceedings had terminated.. Mr. Forbes describes the statement as "totally erroneous." ■ ' Mr. Forbes states that the meeting was an informal one, and hot an officially-called caucus, as with so many members absent from Wellington it was not possible to get a full muster. ' The discussion concentrated on the attitude to be adopted, by the Opposition on the Address-in-Reply debate. Mr. Forbes states that the meeting was of the' friendliest nature throughout, and that neither." Mr. Coates nor any other member left before the termination of the meeting.
(To the Editor.)
Sir,— My attention has been drawn to a report appearing in your paper this evening of the meeting held by the members of the Opposition ■m Parliament Buildings this morning. The report is incorrect where it states that several members did not remain throughout the meeting. Every member who was in Wellington came,,and all stayed until the end of what was a friendly gathering where unanimity; prevailed.-I am, etc.,^ March 31.
