CHANGE OF OWNERSHIP
(Special to the "Evening Post.")
DUNEDIN", February 18,
Final Bell changed ownership before the second day's racing at Wingatui, and he ran in the colours of Mr. T. Cuthbert in the Abbotsford Handicap, his new trainer now being D. J. McDonald. He looked sure to have finished second if High Glee, whom his former trainer A. E. Didham was riding, had not blocked his line in the run to the judge, as Surge beat him only half a head for this placing. High Glee bored in very.badly, and.if Didham had not been there to struggle with him there might have been an accident, as Final Bell was momentarily jammed between him and Surge. Lochlaggan really made hacks of the Flying Handicap field on Saturday, giving a hollow beating to a field that included ther Wellington Cup winner Queen of Song (eighth). Her win shows that she was very. unlucky in the Publicans' Handicap on r the first day. Those who saw Glentruin race can figure out for themselves how richly she'is bred on the dam's side, and she is by the imported Woodend, whose stock are mostly located in Southland. She is now trained by T. P. Wilson at Mosgiel Park, before which she was in J. A. Rowland's hands at Invercargill. She has been a hard mare to keep sound, but Wilson has taken her quietly and won a race at Invercargill at the New Year with her prior to the recent meeting.
