AGA KHAN TO JUMP
ALCHEMIC RETURNED HOME
(Special from "Limited.")
HAWERA, February 18. Although working well on the tracks, Agn Khan has not run up to expectations this season, and he is to be given an opportunity over hurdles. He has been schooled twice since the Egmont Meeting and jumps like an old hand. The Wanganui Guineas winner Alchemic has been sent home to his owner, Mr. W. Bailey, at Ashhurst. Though entire, Alchemic is a delicate horse and does not stand up to strenuous racing at present. F Ehrhorn left for Te Rapa on Saturday with Gay Chief. The two-year-old is in capital condition and is to race at Waikato, Te Aroha, and Franklin. J. Fryer leaves tomorrow with Wotan, Soloist, and Ned Cuttle. Wotan has been coming on steadily, and he shaped particularly Well in a gallop with Le Grand over live furlongs on Saturday morning. The two-year-old Shemseh, who was to have raced at Hawera and Te Aroha, has had to be eased up on account of side trouble. It is not considered serious, and the filly may be seen out before the present season closes.
Notium is being pottered about at present, but will be sent along later in preparation for his Northern Champagne engagement at Easter. Having her first run, the four-year-old mare Sylvanus, by Nigger Minstrel from the Tree Lucerne —Flying Wind mare Airway, made a favourable impression at Hawera last Wednesday, Which she confirmed on the following day by finishing a dead heat for second with Joviality, both being beaten half a head by Court Anna. Sylvanus is a handsome, stoutly-built mare who looks sure to be useful.
