It wanted only a few seconds to the hour when Bishop West-Watson, the r,Deputy Mayor, Mr. J. W. Beanland, and representatives of Churches, local bodies, .and the Arniy. and Navy appeared on the Cathedral steps. The clock on the Chief Post .Office'had just begun to chime the hour when a fire siren blared out its warning and deep silence prevailed. When the end of the two minutes was . announced ,by the siren Bishop West-Watson led the people in the Lord's Prayer.
