PIG INDUSTRY
BOARD REPRESENTATIVE
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
PALMERSTON N., This Day.
At a meeting of the Council of the New Zealand . Pig Breeders' Association it was decided to support, a letter from the North Taranaki branch urging that the pig industry should have a representative on the' Meat Producers' Board. The council is to approach the Department of Agriculture and the Government with the request.
The chairman (Mr. J. A. Russell, of Palmerston North) expressed the opinion that many boards would. shortly be changed. At the suggestion of the South Island branch it was decided to write to the authorities at Smithfield, London, asking for a sample judging card showing the relative possible points for the different sections •of pork baconer pigs, so that, they could be judged on the same basis on the hoof in New Zealand. One member said that judging in the Dominion without this was done in. the dark.
