THE WEATHER

FINE AND WARM

Special forecast for Wellington:—

Light to moderate and variable winds. Weather fine and warm.

The general forecast for the Dominion as a whole issued at noon today was for light to moderate and variable winds, with south-easterlies or southerlies predominating. The weather for the most part will be fair to fine; but scattered and1 mainly light rain is probable at times in the Auckland Province, and in Westland and in southern portions of the South Island.

Yesterday a very slight depression crossed New Zealand. This was responsible for a good deal of cloud, and numbers of places had brief showers. Little rain of consequence, however, was reported. Winds have been light to moderate and variable^ with southerlies predominating. Temperatures remained unchanged. This morning the weather was finer than for some days past. Another shallow depression is just reaching the southern extremity of the South Island.

Auckland has had fine, warm, and sunny weather and little wind.

Except for a few light showers, which reached the eastern suburbs in the morning and d brief drizzle in the afternoon during a change of wind, a moderate southerly breeze blew at Wellington. During the night the breeze became more southerly, and the temperature fell. This morning it was fine and clear. Only a trace of rain was recoi-ded; and there were 4.3 hours of sunshine.

After a dull early morning it became fine and clear at Christchurch before midday, and has since remained so. A moderate north-easterly breeze blew throughout.

At Dunedin it was fine, warm, and clear yesterday with a fresh northeasterly breeze. This morning the weather was overcast.
