LAWN TENNIS

SHORTENED CONTESTS

(By Telegraph.) (Special to the "Evening Post.")

MASTERTON, This Day.

With matches curtailed to the best of 17 games in the men's championships and 13 games in the ladies' championships and all handicap events, good progress was made yesterday with the Wairarapa Lawn Tennis Association's tournament, and every effort is being made to complete the tourney today. The drastic curtailment was necessitated by the loss of a day's play on Anniversary Day on account of the death of King George V and on Thursday, when only about 20 games were decided, owing to rain. The-shortened contests have robbed the tournament of much of its interest, but the players appreciate the position and are making the tourney a happy and enjoyable one. . . ■ . ■ ' , -: - ''
