M. BENES AS PRESIDENT

ELECTION IN CZECHOSLOVAKIA

PRAGUE, December 19.

M. Benes at a joint session of the Chamber of the Senate was elected President of Czechoslovakia for seven years. He requested that the Government remain in office until after the New Year, when it will be reconstructed. ' ■ ; ■

M. Hodza, who is Premier in the meantime, will also hold the portfolio of Foreign Affairs.
