Private School Party.

A very pleasant afternoon was spent when the pupils attending "Ngahau" Private School, Mornington, held their "break-up" party. The programme commenced with the children's singing of the National Anthem and the saluting of the flag, after which singing, recitations, singing games, operatic, country, gipsy, dances and pianoforte solos Were presented. The children received their reports and then presented their parents with Christmas presents they had made. The children's tables were next .carried in and the children, looking very gay in coloured paper caps, sat down to their party tea,. while their parents enjoyed afternoon tea. There was .an interesting display of handwork in the schoolroom. Dance for Seamen. | The ladies' auxiliary of the Catholic I Seamen's Institute gave a very enjoyable social and dance when they entertained the men of.theltangitata, Rangitane, and other ships in .port. Th« band and concert: party of the Rangiiata arranged'the programme' of music and songs, all of which were,most successful. The Misses Peter;? and Gore (Who sang songs),' and Miss Jeanne CokeTf .(who gave. an. amusing. recitation), Miss L.. McGill and ~ P. Treacy (tap dance duo), and Misses Hazel , Martin and Audrey Aliardyce. and Master J. Brown (dance items) added to the programme successfully. ;• An excellent supper was served. -Mr. , Rafter welcomed the men, and Mr. , Mallier...thanked .them for,their excellent programme. Mr. Bradbury, of the Rangitata, expressed, the , Jthanks , and pleasure of the men for the hospitelity given/ them. "Au'ld HLang .
