BELMONT AND ALICETOWN

The members of the singing circles of the Belmont Women's Institute and Alicetown Women's Club gave a delightful party recently in honour of itheir conductor, Mrs. Gibson Young, iand their"pianiste, Mrs. W. Moye. Lovely bouquets of rose: and suhimer. How-lers-were presented to the guests of honour, and; appreciative references to the work of both ladies were made by Mrs. Bennett (Belmont). On behalf of both'cricles Mrs. Moye presented Mrs. Gibson Young with an autograph' album containing the signatures of all the'members. .•'.'.-:;.

'. Every member present contributed in some way to the afternoon's programme, either with song, story, .recitation, competition, or game. "Land of My Fathers", (sung in Welsh by Mrs. Alsop) was a much-appreciated item, as also was Mrs. Christopher's rendering of "Jogging Along the Highway" (sung'in costume), an elocutionary item by. Mrs. Smith and Miss Dick's songs. A burlesque' of "The Apple Woman," the v song with which Belmont recently won the federation .trophy, proved very, popular. A dainty afternoon tea was served.

• Another pleasant evening was spent ■whei; the. members of the Alicetown Singing Circle gave Mrs. Moye, their pianist,-a "surprise party," at • which she, too,,was given an autograph album. A thoroughly i delightful time Jwas spent in games, music, and competitions. The following contributed to the programme:—Mrs. Moye, piano solos; Mesdames McNichol and Christophers, burlesque "Old Faithful"; Mes-, dames Ross Taylor,, Christophers, Gib-' son Young, and Miss Dick, songs.
