"WAIT AND SEE"
MINISTER'S COUNSEL
FURTHER NEGOTIATIONS
(British Official Wireless.) (Received December 14, 11.50 a.m.) RUGBY, December 13. In a speech last night the Secretary for War, Mr. A. Duff-Cooper, said that the League, to which British policy remained attached, asked Britain and France to try to find some basis on which the two warring nations could come to an agreement. Together they worked out a basis. All that had been done so far was to put forward to both, sides and to the League .this basis. There would be an opportunity of further negotiations, and the Government would continue to act under the auspices of the League and according to the decision of the majority, of the members of the League. The best thing to do was to wait and see what the future developments were and to trust the country that had stood by the League.
