DOMINIONS OFFICE
MESSAGES EXCHANGED
THE INTERESTS OF ALL
The Prime Minister (the Hon. M. J. Savage) stated today that he had received, through his Excellency the Governor-General, the following communication, dated November 27, from the Secretary of State for Dominion
Affairs:—
His Majesty has this day entrusted to me the seals of the Dominions Office. I have been fortunate enough both in earlier years and during my previous association with the office
as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State to visit personally a number of the Dominions. It has also been a great privilege and pleasure during the last few years to have had the" opportunity of meeting in London so many Dominion Prime Ministers and other Ministers. I feel that the personal knowledge thus acquired and the personal friendships and acquaintances already formed will be of great help to us. I look forward to helping in the work which is of interest to us all.
(Signed) Malcolm Macdonald.
His Excellency has today been requested to send the following reply from the Prime Minister:—
As one of my first actions on assuming the office of Prime Minister of the Dominion of New Zealand, I desire formally to acknowledge the intimation of your appointment as Secretary of State for Dominions Affairs and to express my earnest hope that our association in our respective offices may be conducive to the best interests of our two countries and of the British Commonwealth' of Nations.
