HERE AND THERE
Spilt Ink Club.
The final meeting of the Spilt Ink Club for this year took the form of a concert in the Douglas Social Credit Rooms, Lambton Quay.
The numerous delightful items included elocution by Miss Thompson (a pupil of Dorothy Seymour) and elocution (tap and toe dancing) also actionsongs in costume, by Jane Anderson, Louise York, and Nona Hood (pupils of Misses Dorothy and Meryl Daniels). The singers were, Miss Kathleen Fuller and Miss Marjorie Wittington, and Mr. S. McDonah gave some favourites, "Trade Winds" and "Devonshire Cream and Cider." The accompanist was Mrs. Lesley Walker.
A large number of members and friends were present, and all enjoyed the programme. A dainty supper was served. Among those present were:— Mesdames Whittington, Hoggard, A. M. Taylor, Spurway, Hood, Walker, Friis, York, Anderson, Jesson, Fitzgerald, Hall, May, Misses R. M. Hoggard (hon. secretary), M. Hitching, 'T. Harrison, M. Spurway, E. Spurway, N. Hood, J. Anderson. E. Stebbings, E. Rait, L. Hoggard, K. Fuller, Thompson, M. Daniels, L. York, Coxon, Jackson, Bentley, F. Masters, Whittington, M. Whittington, V. Fitzgerald, Wilcox, E. Allen, E. McDonald, E. Daroupe, and Messrs. Friis, K. Kuring, Allen, McDonah, Turner, F. Crup, Fuller, Daroupe, and others. For the Health Camp. Another Health Camp effort was made when Mrs. T. B. McNeil and Mrs. L. H. Angus arranged a pleasant and successful afternoon in the form of a bridge party at the residence of Mrs. M. Dennis, Brougham Street. Thanks were expressed to Mrs. Dennis for her kindness, also for the use of her home. ' Plunket Society Concert. The Tawa Flat branch of the P,lunket Society recently held a most enjoyable concert in aid of the baby carnival. Excellent items were given and well applauded. The programme included "The Rhythm Aces" Orchestra in novelty items; songs by the Glee Circle; dancing by pupils of Miss Marjorie Vause; songs and recitations by Mrs. R. Cook, Miss G. Leckie, and Mrs. Hooker respectively; and humorous item by Miss J. Merwood. The Japanese love song was effectively sung and danced by the Glee Circle, multicoloured sunshades and kimonos making a pretty display. Mr. Mudge spoke on behalf of the Plunket committee, heartily thanking all who had assisted. Miss Vause and pupils were then presented with shoulder spray and dainty boxes of home-made sweets.
