"THE MESSIAH."

An engagement of unusual musical interest is that of Miss Dorothy Clark, the South African contralto, who will make her only appearance on the concert platform in New Zealand on Thursday, December 12, with the Royal Wellington Choral Union. Miss Clark has had considerable experience in all parts of the world. She commenced her professional singing career at Durban (S.A.). Since then she has not. only sung all over South Africa, but has appeared at the Royal Albert Hall, London, with the Royal Choral Society and has sung in oratorio and concert in the English provinces. Another important engagement is that of Miss Chrissie Talbot, of Fairlie, who will sustain the soprano role. Miss Talbot created a very favourable impression at the recent Competitions, when she gained high honours in the big aria contest. The other soloists will be Mr. Harold Prescott. of Greymouth, tenor, and bass Mr. Russell Laurenson, of Wellington. The chorus and orchestra, under Mr. Stanley Oliver's baton, will number 250. The box plan will open at the D.I.C. on Monday next at 9 o'clock. Special concessions are available to colleges and schools.
