LONDON, December 1. The Berlin correspondent of the "News-Chronicle" says that the object of the purge is in order to clean up the Nazi party with a view to ridding the movement of men whose extravagant living has caused comment. It is asked how they are able to spend recklessly when their incomes are reputed to be so modest. The first victim was a prominent official whom the secret police seized.
