The fourth annual smoke concert \and: presentation of trophies of the Penone Central Miniature Riile Club took "place recently in the club's range, tidy Street, Petone. About eighty meW bers were present and a most enjoyable evening was spent with musL and song. The president of the club Mr. a\ E. Ffrost, presided, and associated witb him was one of the life members of the club, Mr. R. W. McVilly. , Mr. Walter Nash, M.P, patron of the club, was present for part of the timo. The trophies won during the season were presented by Mr. McVilly, who congratulated the members and also the club on the excellent shooting. He commented particularly on the firstyear shots. Mr. McVilly also congratulated the club on winning the intermediate and B grade championships. A^ presentation was made by Mr. T. Edwards to the captain and coach, Mr. J. C. Devine. Mr. Edwards, in handing to Mr. Devine a token of esteem from the novice shots of the club, stressed the fact that it was wholly through the care and attention of Mr. Devine that success came the club's way and that the novice shots were doing so well. Mr. Devine replied. As the Petone Central Club has won two out of four grade championships (intermediate and "B" grade), Mr. Pitt presented the trophies to the captain lof each team.
In presenting to Mr. J. C Devine (captain of the intermediate team) the R. A. Wright Cup which goes with ths intermediate . championship. Mr. Pitt congratulated the club on its performance in that grade.
Mr. Finlay (captain of the B team) received the shield which his team won.
During the evening items were rendered by Messrs. Voltz, Piti, Green, Greenwood, Hogan, Cook, Forsythe, Price, Wood, and Parker.
The following toasts were honoured: —"The King"; N.Z.M.R.A., replied to by Mr. Pitt; Wellington M.R.A., replied to by Mr. Pitt; Kindred Clubs, replied to by Messrs. R. H. Nicholls (Harbour Board), Fisher (P.W.M.C), Solomon (Hutt), and Pitt (Aotea); Petone Borough Council, replied to by Councillor J. Huggan.
The trophy list was as follows:— Series shoots (4), A grade: First series. Mr. Firth's trophy, S. Jones; second series, Mr. Pugh's trophy, O. Churcher; third series, Mr. A. Williams's trophy, A. E. Ffrost; fourth series, Mr. Alexander's trophy, A. E. Ffrost Tisdall trophy. J. Colquhoun. Club championship shield and miniature, S. Jones. B grade: First series, Mr. Firth's trophy, W. Clewer; second series, Mr. Pugh's trophy, H. Collins; third series, Mr. A. Williams's trophy, J. Colquhoun; fourth series, club trophy, G. Thompson. Mr. Woods's trophy for this year's shots, C grade, T. Edwardi and W. Johnson. A grade handicap aggregate, Mr. Willis's trophy, A. E. Ffrcst; B grade handicap aggregate, Mr. Willis's trophy, J. Finlay. Vizer Cup for highest aggregate in interclub matches, W. Stephenson. Stewart Dawson Cup and miniature cup, J. C. Devine. McGhie Cup and miniature cup. S. Jones. Tisdall Cup and miniature cup, J. C. Devine. j
