OBITUARY

MR. G. A. LATHAM

The death has occurred at Napier of Mr. George Ashton Latham, aged 71, states a Napier Press Association message. Born in Victoria, he migrated to New Zealand when a young man and engaged in public works contracts in Taranaki. In the year 1900, with Messrs. Langlands and Kennedy and Nelson, he embarked on the reclamation of the Te Whare o Maraenui block at Napier, which area was later to be known as Napier South.
