LARGE AUDIENCE

VIENNESE BOYS 1 CHOIR

The dress circle, the stalls, fend the boxes of the Grand Opera House were filled with an outstandingly enthusiastic audience on Saturday night when the Viennese Boys' Choir gave their first Wellington recital.

The choir first appeared dressed in the charming cotta and cassock of the chorister, and later, for their presentation of a scene from an'opera, they wore beautiful eighteenth-century costumes and silky white wigs. The colouring of the floral brocades, the silks, and the satins were perfectly blended, and the wreaths of rosebuds which liie "gentlemen," in the course of a,minuet, placed on the heads of the "ladies," completed the exquisite Dresden china effect. Sailor suits, with long navy blue trousers and white' jumpers with navy and white | collars, were worn for their final appearance.

The large audience included many of the well-known musical people of Wellington, a large number of school children and representatives of churches and amateur musical socie-

ties.
