HUTT POWER BOARD
The chairman (Mr. R. W, Bothamley) presided at the meeting of the Hutt Valley Electric Power Board yesterday afternoon. The following comparisons of power sales,' April 1 to October 31, 1934 and 1935, were given, the figures for last yearl being in parentheses:—Domestic lighting, £23,386 18s 6d (£23,212 Is 9d); commercial lighting, £7588 3s 2d (£6861 4s 3d); heating and cooking, £18,606 13s 3d (£15,257 17s Id); water heating, £6130 19s 2d (£5648 10s lOd); power, £13,260 11s 4d (£10,782 5s 9d); public lighting, £2469 2s 4d (£2435 11s 4d); totals (less discounts), £61,476 Is (£55,687 11s 7d). The position, said Mr. Hollands, appeared satisfactory, and would indicate that conditions, were improving gradually.
During October 46 new consumers were connected and 81 additions were made to existing installations. The totals to October 31 were as follows: — Number of consumers, 12,047; number of ranges installed, 1978; number of water heaters, 1662; connected load k.w., 46,787.
