PRICE OF POTATOES

ONE EXPLANATION (Special to the "Evening Post.") PALMERSTON N., This Day. While new potatoes have been on the market for some time, there has not been the fall in prices generally looked for during November. The reason lor this is probably explained by a letter received by one retail distributor, as follows:—"Owing to the continuous wet weather which we have experienced here for the past three weeks we have had great difficulty in securing supplies, and today we have reached an acute position. Supplies are very short indeed, and we have no option but to ration orders in hand. The present situation is unprecedented."
