LEVIN HIGH SCHOOL
SUGGESTED CHANGES (Special to the "Evening Post") * LEVIN, This Day. On Tuesday evening a public meeting in the Century Hall, Levin, was addressed by the Acting Director of Education (Mr. W. S. La Trobe) and the Chief Inspector of Primary Schools (Dr. J. W. Mcllraith). The present buildings of the Levin District High School are unable to accommodate all the pupils, two halls being hired for that purpose. The Departmental officers outlined the advantages and disadvantages of a high school and a technical high school, and asked for an expression of opinion from the meeting on the establishment of a technical high school in Levin to occupy the present buildings, the contributing primary school with classes up to standard four to be in another part of the town. The meeting was definitely not in favour of the proposal, it being generally considered that if the establishment of a separate high school to serve the needs of the district was not practicable the present district high school was the most suitable alternative. Additions could be made to the present buildings to accommodate all pupils. The intentions of the Department were not disclosed.
