OIL IN ENGLAND

PROSPECTING TO COMMENCE

BEDS 3000 FT DOWN

(Received November 20, 1.20 p.m.) LONDON, November 19. Large-scale prospecting for oil in England is about to commence, following the issue of licences by the Board of Trade. The Anglo-Iranian Oil Company states that geological investigations justify test drilling in addition to geological and geophysical work.

The "Daily Mail" says: "It is believed that rich oil beds exist at a depth of 3000 feet throughout England."
