PLUNKET CARNIVAL
EUCHRE PARTY AND DANCE
A delightful evening was spent In the Pahautanui Hall on Saturday, when the Plimmerton Football Club gave a euchre party and dance to aid the local candidate, Baby Jacqueline Murphy, in the coastal towns' Plunket carnival. The large number which attended included residents of Pahautanui, Pukerua Bay, Plimmertoii, and numerous visitors.
The ladies' card trophy, donated by Mrs. Neale, was won by Mrs. Tregurtha, while the men's was won by Mr. W. Nicol. A competition, for which a Christmas pudding was given by Mrs. C. Gray, was won by Miss M. Gibson. Supper was donated by ladies of' the district, and music was provided by a professional orchestra.
On behalf of the Plunket committee, Mr. W. Mexted spoke in appreciative terms of all those who, in attending, had considerably increased the votes fer the local baby. He also thanked the Plimmerton Football Club, especially their secretary, Mr. J. O. Sullivan, whose services had been untiring; Mr. A. Cochrane for conducting the card party so ably, and Mr. J. Casey and Mr. McDermot for assistance.
The annual reunion of the Chilton House Old Girls' Association will be held at Chilton St. James, Waterloo Road, Lower Hutt, on Friday. The proceedings will take the form of a dinner at 6.45 p.m., followed by a social evening. A warm welcome will be extended to all old girls present. On Monday the annual meeting will be held at the Pioneer Club at 7.45 p.m.
