Nursing Division Meeting. At last night's meeting of the Wellington Nursing Division of the St. John Ambulance opportunity was taken by Mr. F. W. Ward, assistant, commissioner, to present Ambulance Sister Mrs. Compton with the Service Medal for twelve years' efficient service. Lady Divisional Superintendent Mrs. Wilson congratulated the members who had competed, not only in the ambulance competitions held in Timaru. but also those who competed in the Wellington district competitions held last week. At Timaru one first place, two second places, and a third place were gained; and at Wellington two first fequal) a second, and two third places. Hospital duty will be undertaken during the weekends in December. Seamen Entertained. A very pleasant evening was held in the A.M.I.C. Rooms, Vivian Street, organised by the Ladies' Auxiliary, in conjunction with the Children of Mary from the various sodalities, to entertain the seamen of the Tekoa, Tainui, and Emma Maersk. Songs by Miss Sanders and Miss Peters were very much appreciated..v Mark Fisher executed an excellent tap dance, while Miss Jeatic Coker caused much laughter with her humorous recitations. Mr. Cooper, of the Tainui, gave much pleasure with his singing. Mrs. F. X. Dickinson, and Miss Hazel Martin supplied the music. The singing of "Auld Lang Syne" brought a very enjoyable evening to a close. "Auld Scotch Fair." An "Auld Scotch Fair" organised by the Ladies' Guild of the Island Bay Presbyterian Church will be opened by Mrs. Annie McVicar, J.P. in the church hall at 2.30 p.m. tomorrow and will be continued on Friday. Through the untiring work and forethought expended over the past months patrons are assured of an interesting display on well-filled stalls bearing handwork, produce, men's goods, cakes, and articles of beauty and utility. Entries in a baking competition will be judged by Mrs. D. Kennedy. A dainty afternoon tea will be served In the evening the pupils of Adelenc- Burnette will entertain with a programme o£ Highland dancing, and on Friday evening items will be given by local musicians.
