MAN RESISTS ARREST
"One moßth on each charge," said Mr. J. G. L. Hewitt, S.M., in the Magistrate's Eourt today after hearing the evidence against Benjamin' Thompson a french polisher, ag-d 43, who was charged with being drunk in Taranaki Street yesterday, and resisting Constable G. W. Hunt in the execution of his duty. It was Thompson's fifth offence of drunkenness. Constable Hunt described how Thompson had struggled and fought when arrested, and continually asked him if he wanted a fight. SECONDARY SCHOOL ATHLETICS. " ♦— r The .fourteenth annual championship meeting of the .Wellington Secondary Schools' Amateur Athletic Association will be held on the Basin Reserve next Saturday, when the champions of nine colleges, Wellington College, Rongotai College, Technical College, Hurt Valley High School, Wairarapa High School St. Patrick's College (Wellington), St. Patrick's College (Silverstream), Scots College, and Wellesley College, will compete. The competition is divided into threa grades: Junior, under 15; intermediate, under 16J; senior, under 19. There are ten events for the seniors, eight for the intermediates, and six for the juniors, which with the heats make up some forty events. This year the association has decided to donate the proceeds to the Children's Health Campaign Fund and it is confidently expected that not only the parents and friends of the boys will attend, but also large numbers of the general public. At the conclusion of the meeting the McEvedy Shield will be presented to the winning college by Mr. R. G Ridling, president of the Wellington Secondary Schools' Amateur Athletic Association.
