TRANSPORT APPEALS
DECISIONS OF BOARD
Two reserved decisions on appeals against decisions of the No. 6 Licensing Authority were given by the Transport Cc-ordination Board yesterday.
An appeal by Mrs. Kathleen Brown against the granting of a licence to George Maxwell was dismissed. The appellant holds, a licence to transport horses over the provinces of Taranaki, Hawke's Bay, Poverty Bay, and Wellington, and Maxwell was granted a licence to transport horses in Wellington, Taranaki, and Hawke's Bay. The basis of Mrs. Brown's appeal against this decision was that there was no ground for the granting of an additional licence, but the board held that the decision of the authority in granting the licence was well founded, and should not be altered. The other appeal was made by Bentley's Motors, a firm which runs passenger services between Te Kuiti, Hangatiki, and the Waitomo Caves Hostel, against a licence granted to Webb's Motors, Limited, to carry on a passenger service on three days a week between the Chateau Tongariro and the Hostel, by way of Taumarunui and Te Kuiti. The,-board decided that the new service should be allcved to continue but that at points north of Taumarunui passengers should not be ■ picked up on the northward journey and on the southward journey no passengers should be set down north of Taumarunui.
