' An evening is, to be given by the ;Women's Borstal Association tomorrow .in the mezzanine room, the Dominion Farmers' Institute, to welcome home Mrs. P. Fraser, J.P., The work of the association is the rehabilitation of those girls detained for a reformatory period in the Borstal .Institute, and Mrs. Fraser has had many and unusual opportunities of seeing the inner workings of similar institutions in Great Britain. Those interested riot only in welfare work 'but in a first-hand description ot scenes abroad and of life in.its varying social planes will do well to attend and hear Mrs. Fraser speak. New Zealanders in Sydney. ' That popular form of entertainment ■: —the afternoon musicale—was arranged recently by the New Zealand Women's Association to welcome several visiting New Zealanders to Sydney, states the Sj'dney "Morning Herald." Guests of honour were Mrs. Albert Russell, of Auckland, and her daughter, Miss Margot Russell, both of whom were presented with sheaves of red roses arid lilies of the valley by the president, Mrs. J. W. Apprentice. Oth ler guests were Mrs. W. F. Robinson (Christchurch), Mrs. L. Robinson (Taranaki), Mrs. A. M. Clay (Auckland), Mrs. F. W: Cresswell (Bay of Plenty), Mrs, B. Pettit (Auckland), Mrs. Z. C. Tatton (Wellington), and Mrs. A. M. Dunkley and Mrs. H. H. Robinson. Mrs. Louis Scott had charge of the programme, the assisting artists being Miss Vera Haughton, Miss Annis Gale, and Miss Enid Hynes. The next party of the association was -a morning tea at Elizabeth Bay House when farewells were said\to Matron* Mac Lean before her departure, for Japan, where she will introduce the Karitane method of mothercraft. Plunket Baby Carnival. ' Ksen interest is being taken in the coastal towns branch of the Plunket Society's baby carnival. The voting points for the various committees' are as followsr^^-Johnsonville (Baby Davis), 1964, 1; Tawa Flat (Baby Hooker), 1943, 2; Paraparaumu (Baby McLean), 1928; 3; Paekakariki XJohn and Bryan O'Connor), 1620, 4; Porirua (Baby Murray), 778, 5; / Plimmerton (Baby Jacqueline Murphy), 700, 6. Presentation to District Nurse. Mothers and interested friends gathered together in the Methodist Hall, Porirua, recently to farewell Nurse Pdynter, who for the past year has been the district Plunket nurse. Mrs.Windley (president of the local committee), spoke of the good work carried out by Nurse Paynter during her term .of office and called upon Mrs. J; Herlihy to present her with a small token of appreciation. Bouquets on behalf of the mothers and babies were presented by Mrs. Hassall and Jackson. The mothers took the opportunity of welcoming Nurse Welsh who has taken up her duties as nurse to the newlyformed Coastal Towns branch. Musical items were given by Mesdames Thompson and Goff.- Mrs. T. Ryan officiated at the piano. After a delightful, afternoon tea, a very pleasant afternoon was brought to a' close.
