Auckland.—The third series of games in the Auckland Cricket Association's competition commenced under adverse conditions, sticky wickets assisting the bowlers. Grafton, 231, beat Ponsonby. 107 (Clark 39. Spring five for 32). and 128 for five (Sneddon 53 not out). Eden, 304 for two, beat Parnell, 28 (Macrae five for 11, Townsend four for 7), and 77 (Postles four for 15). King's Old Boys. 189 and 41 for two, beat University, 120 (Andrews six for 32). V.M.C.A., 200 and 61 for four, lost to North Shore, 217 (Ferguson 59 not out, Walters 42, Bush 34).
Christchurch.—A warm sun and drying wind on wickets soaked by a week's rain made ideal conditions for bowlers in cricket matches on Saturday. Some bowlers had sensational figures in consequence. St. Albans, 197 (O'Brien 114), and 51 for four wickets, beat Sydenham, 191 and 93 (Merritt eight for 52). Lancaster Park, 265 (Cromb 153), beat West Christchurch, 145 and 27 (Read five ■ for 14, Yates three for 11). Riccarton,. 161 (Roberts 65), beat Old Boys, 131 and 60 for two wickets. East Christchurch, 168 (Quaid 51), beat Old Collegians, 108 and 53.
Dunedin.—As a result of recent rain cricket matches were, played on tricky wickets, and the outfields were slow. Albion, 150 (Brookes 39, Campbell six for 51). met Colts, 116 for sbc (Bad- | c°ck 32. Saxton 44, Shepherd five for 44). Dunedin, 104 (Hardman 31, Elmes three for 31, Galland six for 38), met Grange, 142 for six (Toomey 46, Elmes 35 not out). University, 146 (Ryan 100, Groves five for 58), met Old Boys 44 for five (Henderson three for 6). Carisbr°ok, 129 (Dunning 31, Talbot three for 32, Cook two for 6), met Kaikorai, 45 for three (McKay, two for 5).
