There passed .away at Ferntown, Collingwood, a very, well-known and highly-respected resident ; of.Golden Bay, Mrs. Jean . Watson,! widow' of Mr. Garden B. Watson, "well-known in shipping and mining circles.' ■ -•
Born in Victoria, the deceased lady came to New Zealand With her parents seventy-three years ago. Most of her early days were .spent at Dunedin. There are many in the Bay • disTricts who will, remember, her kindness and generosity at the Pakawau homestead. Devoting the , last twenty years entirely to her'invalid daughter, was a wonderful example of love and selfsacrifice. She is survived by five duaghters, Mrs.. H. King (Puponga), Mrs. E. Fillent (North Cape), Mrs. W. A. Kirker (Wellington), and the Misses Winifred and Edith Watson.
