VICTORIA LEAGUE
CONFERENCE ENDS
It is six years since a Victoria League conference has been held in the Dominion, but' so successful and stimulating has been the three-days' conference concluded'in Christchurch on Friday, states the "Christchurch Press" that delegates who attended are already looking forward to the next meeting.
Business sessions and social gathering have alternated pleasantly during the last few days, and a general feeling of good-fellowship arid a fuller and better understanding of one another's problems have been the immediate results of the conference.
The last gathering given in honour of the visiting delegates was a particularly enjoyable reception, given on Friday afternoon by Mrs. Deans, president of the Christchurch branch, which now numbers 400 members. Unfortunately the weather was so wet and dreary that the guests could not enjoy the beauty of the grounds at Riccarton House, where are to be found many rare and historic trees, famed throughout the Dominion. But all was cheery and bright within doors, where the large reception rooms were warm with blazing fires and gay with bowls of irises, laburnum, and rhododendrons.
