DIATOMOUS LEFT IN BOX
Diatomous was due to have his first outing for the new season in the Clifton Handicap at Bulls last Saturday, but he failed to figure in the parade. There is nothing wrong with the horse, however, the holding nature of the going deciding his owner (Mr. M. Millar) not to start him. Chalice was an absentee from the Rangitoto Hack Handicap for the same reason.
A new way of selling beer has been introduced at Dallas, Texas. The purchaser pays at the rate of 2s 6d an hour, and is allowed to drink as much as he likes in the period.
