AGILE WORKS WELL

NOTES FROM ADDINGTON

(Special to the ''Evening Post.")

CHRISTCHJJRCH, November C.

Most of the track work at Adding- n ton yesterday was done some distance ii out from the rails, and times were not it fast. The recent spell of wet weather put the main track out of commission g for a week, and trainers are now mak- h ing up for lost time. ■ • v Bessie- Parrish just failed to catch t Raima at the close of a mile and a a half, her time being 3min 28sec. She n gave a fine display to trot the last t half-mile in lmin 3 4-ssec. Ganton j r went 3min 31 2-ssec for the same dis-11; Rey Spec paced Agile who beat his companion narrowly in Imin 42 3-ssec [for two miles, the last half-mile in lmin 7sec. Agile is very well, and will carry big money next week. Indianapolis was worked the reverse way, and jogged two miles wide out in 4min 35sec, the last mile in 2min 17sec. A decision regardirig his driver in the New Zealand Cup will not be made until Friday. J. Fraser, jun., has the choice of driving Tempest or .Indianapolis, and M. Holmes will be offered the drive on the other. Holmes drove Indianapolis when he won the Weston Handicap at Oamaru. < Blue Mountain beat Vesuvius over a mile and a half in 3min 21 2-ssec, and Graham Direct, in the middle of the track, took 3min 29 l-ssec for the same distance. Graham Direct has to concede Gamble 24yds over two miles at Addington. but the betting should be evenly distributed. . . Chenwood, who has not been up long after a spell, is still a confirmed kheeknocker, and he was in constant trouble while working a mile and a half with Iraq in 3min 26sec, Hhe last half in lmin 6sec: Llewellyn's Pride, who is- very fit, sauntered over a mile and a half in 3min 39sec. He was accompanied by Golden Cross. The Australian pacers, Eyicus and Emilius Way, had the assistance of Fernbrook Lass and Lilian Bond in a mile and a half spin. Evicus went away in front from Fernbrook Lass, Emilius Way, and Lilian Bond, in that order. Emilius Way moved up briskly with a mile and a quarter covered, but on leading into the straight he collapsed, and finished well back. Evicus and Fernbrook Lass finished on terms, : Evicus clocking 3min 21 3-ssec. Emilius i Way has been disappointing. Lilian ■ Bond also lacked dash at the finish, ■ and does not look right. Tempest, who looks as well as any horse at Addington, finished on terms with Cloudy Range after an easy two miles. Cloudy Range only went the last mile. i Renown's Best has shaken off the soreness that developed last week, and, ■ for a three-year-old she put up good ' figures for a mile and a half. Over 1 the last quarter she ran away from Fanny Bingen to register 3min 25 3-ssec, } the last four furlongs in lmin 7sec. * She is given a chance in the Riccarlon Stakes. Prairie King occupied 2min 47sec 1 for a mile and a quarter, the last half--3 mile in lmin 7sec. * R. B. Berry was down from Yald- - hurst, and, besides Lilian Bond, he ; worked Trampfast f Chechahco, Sylvia \ Sydney, Rollalong, and Tapdancer. ; Trampfast, Chechahco, and Sylvia '• Sydney were companions for a mile '• and a half. Chechahco finishing best t to clock 3min 25 3-ssec. Chechahco 0 has shown a return to form in his last - two races, and should stay better next week than he has done previously in i- CanteVburyV Grand Mogul, who is not engaged :" until the third day of the Metropolitan c Meeting, was holding Chancellor at the close of a mile and a half, but there s was no pace on early. Chancellor failed ■• badly in the Oamaru Handicap, and g has lost favour for Addington events, c Grand Mogul has not finished winning, a M. Holmes, who has been engaged d to drive Biddy Parrish in the Dominion Handicap, could not have felt sanguine 0 of success after handling her in a-work-e out. 'She was never going fast enough y to keep herself warm, put in a bad > break, and could not head off Fifa, -'- who is merely a plugger. l> Harlequin, who is engaged in the i- Riccarton Stakes, ran a mile and a 1 quarter in 2min 59sec. Norman Fox s' trotted the same distance in 2min 55sec. Homeward, who failed completely as a ie hot favourite at Oamaru, was not exr" tended over a mile and a half. y The three-year-olds, Rollalong and P Tapdancer, who are candidates for Ihe c" Riccarton Stakes, paced a serviceable ; mile and a half, Rollalong having the measure of the filly, le Lo ' '. . .
