EARRING VOGUE

FINISHING TOUCH

FOR ALL OCCASIONS

Woq^en have capitulated to the vogue of earrings. Not only the older woman but the young girl is realising that earrings give ■ the finishing touch of femininity which is so charming.

There are earrings for the morning, afternoon, and evening. In exquisite designs, drooping jewels of colour beauty are set in delicate workmanship like the art of the 16th century goldsmiths, for the picturesque Italian renaissance frocks. For the tweed sports suit there are button earrings of hide or the more decorative snakeskin to match tie brooch and belt buckle, says the "Daily Telegraph."

Contour and complexion colouring are feature points to be studied when choosing earrings, The ensemble is important, too, for often a becoming frock can be made still more becoming by a gleaming note of the same colour worn as earrings.

Some of the most attractive new designs are made on Oriental lines in Chinese stones set in silver and marcasite. Jade,'in. green and the darker blue green, amber, rose quartz, aquamarines, diamonds, lovely old paste, and pearls are favourite jewels used for many of the modern designs. . Circular; open-centred ",clip-on earrings, 'based oh a purely Chinese design, prove becoming to! many girls.. These„are seen in ivory: and many; different colours, including a deep rich red—which may accent a clever makeup of the.lips. -■"■•■

Young girls are finding that earrings in a\ simple: youthful design enhance theip V;;' good, "points. Many, of these earrings are just pearl studs,, large or small, as best suits the facial contour.

For, a girlish roundess of features therevare oval studs, or jewelled ear-clips-following vthe upper line of the lobe of the ear and resting slightly on. the cheek. These take off the contour line 6t a too-rounded chin. Makeup helps,: too ■,in this regard when rouge; is placed with a delicate touch, I fairly high oh the cheeks. Long, nar[row^rbp 'earrings, which are seen in many effective designs this season, are becoming'to rounded features.

Earrings can be a beauty asset when the contour is a.trifle too long or narrow. Large, single colourful stones; or; pearl studs can be worn successfully, while drop earrings may be wide in design.

There are new curved designs the stones arranged as a rounded cascade set in platinum or silver filigree which are most becoming. Here is a hint on the matter of complexion makeup; which can also help in accenting a good contour line. Complexjon colouring should be a little lower in a cheek curve in line with the ears.
