Mr. H. H. Sterling is to take the chair at a meeting of the Institute of Transport in London on October 15, when Mr. A. W. Arthurton will give a lecture on "Transport in the" Dominions." . .

Mr. J. A. W.. Bennett, a graduate, of the University of New Zealand, who obtained a First-Class in the Honours School in English in 1935, has been elected to .' a ■ Harmsworth Senior Scholarship by the Governing Body at Merton College, Oxford. ,

Mr. J. P. Belshaw, M.A. (Auckland), arrived by the last trip of the Oronsay, ] and he hopes to spend two years at Manchester University doing research work in order to take the degree of Ph.D. His subject will be "Depression and Reconstruction in New Zealand." .

Lieutenant-Colonel Granville Walton, 0.8. E., Headquarters Commissioner for Rover Scouts, who accompanied the Chief Scout ' (Lord Baden-Powell) on his recent world tour, is a^ain to be his companion during parT of the South African tour which the Chief is undertaking this winter. Colonel Walton, accompanied by Mrs. Walton and their two young sons, will leave on December 13 to meet the Chief Scout in Durban in time for the East London Jamboree.
