Full use/iof every opportunity of bringing New Zealand butter and cheese beftorfe the British public is being madte by the Dairy Board. The fact that /one of the largest (possibly the largest) shipments of British-made motor-caus in one vessel, the Rangitata, was, the subject of special comments in; the London Press. Correspondence dated London, October 18, by air mteil, and received today, stated that 540- cars and 12 lorries, of the value of. £90,000, were dispatched, and it was /remarked by the "Daily Express" iSaat "the loyal Dominion's imports of; British cars and aircraft have jumped by £511,944, or 54 per cent, in ninei months. She is one of this country*s largest customers. Will there be.-reciprocity from Britain, now helping "with trade agreements and quotaa New Zealand's competitors in ■»our nijarket?"
The} consignment, by the Rangitata is numerically, greater than the entire display at the Olympia Show, which had 480 units exhibited. The majority of tbje vehicles is coming to Auckland and Wellington. • The Dairy Board, in a press commuijique from its London office, quoted the figures showing New Zealand's substantial increase in motorcar;/ purchases from the United Kingdom this year, and added: —"New Zealand is buying more cars because of her increased purchasing power brought about by better prices and a bigger demand in the United Kingdom market for her dairy products. For three years New Zealand farmers have suffered from the worst prices they •have ever known. Now things are coming back to normal they are able to buy from Britain in much greater quantities." Details regarding £ 1,000,000 worth of contracts recently placed with United (Kingdom firms by New Zealand governmental and shipping interests have (also been communicated by the Dairy .Board to the British Press, and are reported to have created^ widespread interest and comment.
